Ten years ago, Hello Games released No Man's Sky, a wildly ambitious sci-fi exploration game that caused a stir at the Spike Video Game Awards. Tonight, at the 2023 edition of The Game Awards, the studio did it again, announcing Light No Fire. Instead of exploring a vast world of different planets, this time the game focuses on a single incredibly detailed world.

According to Hello's Sean Murray, the game has been developed by a small team over the past five years. He describes it as the "first true open world" without borders, which also has an online multiplayer component. Looking at the trailer, it looks like it will include elements such as crafting, mining, and  flying mounts.

The official explanation is:

Light No Fire is a game of adventure, building, survival, and exploring together. Set on a fantasy planet the size of Earth, it combines the depth of a role-playing game with the freedom of a survival sandbox.

Of course, No Man's Sky has come a long way since its initial announcement. After being released in 2013, it finally hit the market in 2016 and has since been available on various platforms and grown thanks to continuous updates. Version 4.0 was released last year, and in 2023 it will be expanded to  Mac and PlayStation VR2

No  release date or platform has been announced yet, but Light No Fire does have a Steam page.

Light No Fire Contextual Setting

Whereas No Man's Sky had an entire universe procedurally generated, Light No Fire has a single planet generated and scaled to fit the fantasy setting. Hello Games is trying to create a multiplayer Earth large enough to potentially accommodate his 7.8 billion people  currently living on Earth. This literal open-world ocean is as dark and deep as our own, its mountains taller and more impressive, and the spaces it can traverse just as vast and diverse. I've played  open world games before, but nothing  like this. There are literally hundreds of millions of square miles of space  to explore, discover, and expand with your friends.

You can create  custom his avatars of different species, including humans, rabbits, foxes, badgers, bears, wolves, and otters, and  expect to encounter small outposts full of characters (like in No Man's Sky) . ) A person who distributes quests.

One  of Light No Fire's core tenets is the idea of introducing you to a multiplayer earthian large scale worls, a space where "you can meet players from all over the world, build lives, explore together, and survive." You can team up with friends or meet other players in the field, but the studio says you can also play alone if you want to, similar to No Man's Sky. Another important aspect of Light No Fire is its ability to “build lasting buildings and communities.” This means everything you build will be visible to other players, and  you never know what you'll find while wandering around.
